Hello,

this is comart system.

Today, I would like to explain

Why high-speed cameras are necessary for sports instant replay.

Currently, instant replay is widely used in various sports,

including baseball, soccer, basketball and volleyball, among others.

Instant replay plays a very important role in sports games, helping referees determine

scores and identify fouls, thereby ensuring fair competition.

To maintain fairness, instant replay must be able to scrutinize every intricate movement.

However, making accurate decisions with a regular camera is nearly impossible.

Therefore, sports games require high-speed cameras.

The image below will illustrate why.

Comparison of judgment precision according to recording speed

If you look at the picture above,

the umpire declared the batter out when he sprinted toward first base.

If the camera used for Instant replay operates at 30 frames per second

it is impossible to determine whether the first baseman caught the ball or

the batter touched the base first.

Even when filmed at 60 frames per second, althogh the interval between

the ball catch and the base touch is reduced compared to 30 frames per second,

it is still impossible to determine who arrived first.

However, when recorded with a 120 frames per second high-speed camera,

it can be determined that the batter's base touch was faster than the

first baseman's ball catch.

Ultimately, as a result of the opposing team coach's request for Instant replay,

the umpire's decision was overturned.

Therefore, for Instant replay, judgment should be conducted using

high-speed cameras with a frame rate of 120 frames per second or higher.

At our comapany, Comart System, we possess high-speed cameras with a frame rate of

120 frames per second or higher, and we provide Instant replay system solutions.
